Another death-the world is not so rosey
I lost another cousin to hemophilia related issues yesterday morning. He was only in his mid 40's, had a family and wonderful wife. Since we have so many new treatment and care options, hemophilia's general health care treatments have improved over the years. Because of this I think we tend to forget that it is a very serious medical condition, which can claim a life very quickly or very slow and painfully. - Small world. I grew up in HSV and graduated from JHS!! That is where my parents live. We haven't attended camp. Tried several times, but he plays a lot of baseball on a travel team, so never seems to work it in. Let me know when he gets back in town and we can get them together. How long have you lived in that area?

- That would be great. We will be in Hot Springs over the 4th and then back later in the summer. My family lives there and it is not far from us, so we are there alot. There's not a lot of kids for ours to be around and understand what they go through. So when I have an opportunity like this it is great. How old is your son and where is he going to school in HS?

I am catching up on the mybloodbrothers sight and read your latest event. I have a 10 year old and just moved from Hot Springs. He is also a hemophilia. We are in HS a lot and would love for our boys to get together. Hope everything is getting back to normal. Take care, Teresa

Your Child Has Hemophlia!
I will never forget the day those words were spoken to me! All three times!I have three sons with severe hemophilia A. With no family history this was quite A shock to us! Our HTC provided us with a wealth of information. We also found wonderful resources at our local hemophilia chapter as well as the National Hemophilia Foundation. One thing that helped me was being able to talk to other moms who had kids with hemophilia. However 26 years ago that was a bit of a challenge! I am thrilled to be part of Hemophilia Moms so I can share my experiences with all of you!
I was so frustrated all those years ago when no one could answer a question that I felt was pretty straight forwar. " How big is a bruise before it is a bleed?" I always got the same answer..."you will know!" Now how was I going to know? I had never seen a "bleed"! I barely knew what hemophilia was! However, when my son had his first bleed....I knew it! When he had his first spontanious bleed....I knew! As mothers we need to trust ourselves. Take advatage of all the resources that are available! Twenty six years ago I would have loved to be able to talk to other moms in my shoes with the click of a mouse!
How did you feel when your son was diagnoised? How did you know your child had a bleed?
